It was 2014 and our salon in Cornwall had been open for 6 years, we'd expanded, taken on new staff, new treatments, and we were ready for the next adventure.
With clients returning every 2 weeks for their Shellac manicures, it meant we were going through truckloads of cuticle oil and couldn't recommend it enough for keeping polish in place for longer.
It took 7 trials before we settled on our final recipe (I remember because to this day the spreadsheet is still named 'TheMidasTouch7'!) and we are still keeping the backbone of this original formula today.
Here's our original recipe compared to our new one:
Rice Bran, Flaxseed, Jojoba, Vanilla Infusion, Vitamin E, Fragrance
Sesame, Flaxseed, Jojoba, Avocado, Vitamin E, Rose & Vanilla Absolute
- We're replacing Rice Bran with Sesame Oil which is thicker and more luxurious. It's known as the 'queen of oils' and will add lots of nourishment and hydration to the nail bed.
- We're keeping Flaxseed and Jojoba, we just love these oils, but we're also going to add some unrefined Avocado Oil into the recipe.
- Avocado oil is full of vitamins and this raw version is going to add a real boost to our formula...and to your nails! It is a light oil so will absorb quickly, allowing your nails to really benefit from its properties.
- The fragrance we used before was allergen free, however we're going to do one better and use the very precious and natural absolutes of Vanilla and Bulgarian Rose to gently scent the final oil.
