The Long Haul

Ahhh January. What a rubbish month you are.
You get a momentary burst of motivation when setting new year goals and plans and then realise it’s January.
It’s a long month, the weather is depressing and it’s no longer acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast.

January is however a great month for starting something new, to take time to look after your wellbeing after a hectic festive season and for planning adventures.

For us as a business its the perfect time to reflect on the previous year and decide our goals for the months ahead, we'll share a few with you:

  • In March/April we will be taking on a new aromatherapy skincare brand to offer more skin specific facials in the salon
  • We aim to launch at least 3 more of our own products plus another candle
  • We also need to make a plan for our 10 year anniversary!

But hey, enough about work.

On a more personal level, I like to book some time away in January, there's nothing better than having a trip to look forward to and spending the rainy evenings planning a few days away. This year I've booked a short city break to Amsterdam, let me know if you've been before and have any recommendations.

If you don't have the time or funds to go galavanting, then you can always indulge in a great escape at home. Make time for some self care by making an Epsom salt bath - perfect for relieving aches and pains, use your favourite face mask that you've been saving for a special occasion and nourish your locks with an intensive hair treatment.

Obviously our favourite is our very own Head to Haiti hair oil, use it as a pre-shampoo mask and apply to scalp and ends. It's full of coconut, avocado and macadamia as well as Haitian castor oil and hibiscus. We've chosen these oils specifically for their ability to penetrate the hair follicles and leave you with super soft and nourished tresses.

Another treat that we'd recommend giving a go is signing up to a beauty or lifestyle subscription box, they're a great way to discover new products and a lovely surprise each month.

Not only that, but as everything is trial size, they make perfect travel companions or handy handbag essentials.

There's so many to choose from, stationary to food, some for pets and mums to be, here are some of our favourites to get you started:

  • The Little House of Hygge - a beautifully presented box containing lots of Hygge inspired goodies, all handpicked from small UK Independent makers and creators as well as items from Scandinavia and across Europe.

Every box contains seasonal products to inspire, relax and evoke perfect hyggelig times. Think scented candles, artisan chocolates, beauty products, specially selected hot chocolates, teas and coffee, games, journals, stationery, notebooks and prints as an example of some of their contents.

  • The Natural Beauty BoxDiscover amazing natural, vegan and cruelty-free skincare and beauty products each month with The Natural Beauty Box. Featuring award winning and skin loving products with the finest natural ingredients from established brands, upcoming brands, eco-luxe brands and amazing artisans. With a beautiful new theme and gorgeous packaging to match each month, you won't be able to wait for your Natural Beauty Box to arrive!
